Sony Reader is perfect when away from home

I managed to import the Sony Reader PRS 505 from the USA in the summer and what a great bit of kit it turned out to be.

I am abroad for up to 5 months of the year on lengthy work assignments and trying to find suitable reading material can be a problem. So I purchased the Sony Reader with a view to take a couple of dozen novels away on my last job away. To be honest I didn't get any peace when using the PRS 505 reader as I was constantly being interrupted by people asking to have look at the ebook reader. Like me they were totally blown away by the crispness of the text being displayed on the PRS 505. It is really like reading a physical book and the eyes have never suffered from eyestrain even after prolonged use.

The Sony PRS 505 reader proved to be the perfect travel companion when away from home. I will never have to fill the suitcase with books again. I will now have more room for the Duty Free.

I managed to get my hands on one of these babies a few weeks back and have used it to view PDF files which great effect. Have also blasted thru a couple of the novels that come free with the prs 505 reader and it's still on the first charge. Don't bother looking at the other ereaders on the market, the Sony reader is the best money can buy.

I can't wait for Waterstone's to get up to speed with a decent range of ebooks.

Amazon review for the Sony Reader

I purchased this product about a month ago. It works very well and has been an excellent addition to my travel kit. My first book was Ken Follet's, World Without End. Normally, long books are bulky and not easy to read. Using the reader made it a breeze and the history feature kept track of where I left off, without having to drop a book mark. This enabled me to go back to multiple stop points in my reading - a definite advantage for me.

In bright, direct, sun, the screen had a tendency to wash out a bit but other than that, was very easy to read. In fact, I find that I can read longer (with almost no eye strain) than with a traditional printed page.

I considered Kindle but really just wanted a book replacement with some additional advantages, like storage and keeping track of my progress, as I usually read several books in parallel.

Although it holds pictures and acts as an MP3 player, they did not factor into my purchase decision.

I am very satisfied with the Sony e-Reader and look forward to many happy hours of reading pleasure.
